He moved to Oceanside in 1944 with his family, graduating from Oceanside High School in 1956.
Roger owned and operated Jessup’s Party Supplies in downtown Oceanside, where he greeted all of his customers with a big smile and a cheerful hello. In addition to selling greeting cards and party favors, he filled many a wedding invitation order for his beloved Oceanside customers. He retired from his business in 1977.
Roger enjoyed traveling. He took many trips with his mother to Waikiki to bask in the sun and drink Mai Tais. In all of his travels, his sunny disposition warmed the hearts of people and it was often said that Roger had friends wherever he went. He enjoyed high school reunions and get-togethers with friends and family. He was also active in the Oceanside Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge 346, and served as their Noble Grand in 1974.
Roger is survived by his brother, Byron L. Jessup and sister-in-law, Marjorie E. Jessup; his niece, Kelly Jessup Casebeer, her husband Jon and their two sons, Tristan and Devin, his nephews Alan Gatti and Cayce Jessup, his wife Denise, their daughter Cassidy and son Cayden.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Merle Jessup in 1963 and his mother, Lametta Perschbacher Jessup in 1998.
