Paul attended school in Lithuania and Germany, where he earned a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He immigrated to the United States and moved to Mascoutah, Illinois. Paul established a veterinary practice, “Mascoutah Animal Hospital,” and retired after 39 years. After moving to California with his wife, Aldona, he enjoyed spending time with his family, continued his work for the self-determination of Lithuania, traveled internationally, achieved Silver Life Master rank in contract bridge and watched countless ball games.
Paul was an active leader and member of many professional and service organizations: Lion’s Club, First Federal Savings and Loan Board of Directors, Mascoutah Public Library Board of Directors, St. Martin of Tours Lutheran Church, and various Lithuanian National and Protestant associations.
Paul leaves in loving memory his wife of 59 years, Aldona Erika (nee Sernas) and his daughters: Kristine Sheffler (Bill), Rita Irene, Milda Scott (Dan) and Audrey Veitas (Vytenis). “Opa” was devoted to his four grandchildren: Emily, Claudia, Rokas and Kaz. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. May he rest in peace. Alleluja!
