He graduated from Escondido High School in 1945 and Woodbury College on November 25th, 1949 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Norm was a Navy Veteran who served from February 10th, 1945 to July 30th, 1946 and earned a WWII Victory Medal – Asiatic Pacific Area.
He lived in the Hawaiian Islands for 10 years where he met his wife Josephine Wright and they were married on October 9th, 1965. They moved to the New Hebrides Islands next to New Caledonia in 1971 where they lived until they came back to California in 1977.
He was a contractor who built The Meeting Palace (a cultural center in Paradise, California) in 1980, as well as many homes and commercial buildings throughout his career. He was an artist, inventor, dance instructor, master painter, musician, business owner, fitness trainer and body builder. He enjoyed fishing, flute making, sailing, chess, bird training, gardening and fountain sculpting. He was a Christian Scientist and a former member of the Elks Lodge and the West Coast Swing Dance Association.
Norman Wright passed away on February 22nd, 2017 at the age of 89 in Vista, California. He is survived by his loving wife Josephine Wright, 2 daughters: Laura DiDonato (Kim Wright), Wendy Williams (Wright), 5 grandchildren: Gina DiDonato, Amanda Wright, Cassandra Davis, Matthew Davis, Jonathan Coppess, and 2 great grandchildren: Damien Wright and Tessa Watson.
Norm touched the lives of many, always with a youthful spirit. He followed his passions and shared his many talents of art, dance, music and laughter with everyone he met. His message to everyone is “To remember your free will, to live every day in gratitude, and to always tell family how much you love them.”
