Mildred Bowen was born on September 16, 1922, to the late Levi Bowen and Eldeka Archer Bowen in Panamá City, Panamá. Mildred is preceded by her siblings: Evelyn Bowen, Viola Bowen, Maudline Lashley, Myrtle Campbell, Olga Bowen and Alfred Bowen.
Mildred (Mily or Tía) came to the United States in 1958. She worked as a Nanny in New York for over 40 years, where she raised several children. She made such a great impact in their lives that some of them stayed in contact with her over the years. Mily would often tell stories of her time raising children and family members, which would result in a good laugh or two.
Mily had a spunky, quick-witted, sassy personality. Her independent spirit and can-do attitude is what kept her young at heart, strong willed and vibrant! Mily was an avid Yankees fan. She had a love for all animals, especially dogs; and spent her free time walking and taking care of them. They brought her lots of joy and laughter. Mily was very dynamic in adjusting to life. She had a savvy way of making money, by taking care of pets and people for over 17 years, in the apartment complex where she lived.
Mily loved going to Red Lobster and enjoyed choosing her own lobster; reminiscent of her time spent in Maine, where she indulged in the abundance of fresh seafood. She also loved El Pollo Loco, home-cooked meals and sweets.
Mily is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews.
Mily will forever be in our hearts
