Megan Marie Lopez

Megan Marie Lopez passed away on January 29, 2022, in Ocotillo Wells. She was born on October 18, 1996, in Oceanside to Marion and Carrie Lopez. Megan grew up in Vista. She attended Beaumont Elementary, Vista Magnet Middle, and is a 2015 graduate of Rancho Buena Vista High School. Megan continued her education to Mira Costa College and then onto California State University San Marcos. She will receive her Bachelor of Science with Honors in Psychology in the Spring of 2022 posthumously. Megan had aspirations to continue her education in neuroscience or neuropsychology.

Megan met the love of her life, Dean Burgess in January 2016. Dean proposed to Megan in June of 2016 while on their trip to London and the couple planned to be married once Megan finished school.

Megan is survived by her fiancé, Dean Burgess, her parents Marion and Carrie, brothers Robert and Jordan, sister-in-law Serina, niece Kaya, nephew Kage, and Grandma Suzanne Hanson. She is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were fortunate enough to have Megan (and her infectious smile) in their lives. She was preceded in death by her Papa-Rodney Hanson, Grammie-Mary Lopez, and Grandpa Ruben Lopez.

A celebration of Megan's life will be held at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside on Friday, February 11, at 10 a.m. A luncheon reception will immediately follow the service at the Thibodo Ranch House in Vista.
