She graduated from Kane High School at Lakota, N. Dakota in 1933 and married Merle Lionel Foster on June 27, 1936. They were high school sweethearts.
Luella and Merle moved to Washington where their two sons were born, Thomas M. Foster and Richard L. Foster.
After her boys were busy in school Luella entered the fashion world as a clerk, milliner, model, buyer and purchaser.
Luella dreamed of becoming a teacher some day. She left the fashion world and went to Everett Junior College and discovered she was a successful student. Opportunities opened up for her to attend Colorado State University in 1962. She graduated from CSU in three years with a B.A Degree in Speech Arts with a minor in English Literature. She went on to receive her M.A Degree in Education with emphasis on reading. She taught at Lincoln Jr. High and Blevins Jr. High in Fort Collins, CO until her retirement in 1977.
Luella belonged to Church Women United, volunteered at The Food Distribution Center of Fort Collins and the Fort Collins Museum. She was also a president of the Fort Collins Reading Association. Luella served as a lay minister in the Community of Christ.
She brought joy to the lives of many; her students, friends, colleagues, church members and certainly her family. Her smile, her touch, and her love captured us all.
She is survived by her two sons, six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
