Mary was born in Philadelphia, Pa. as the 5th of 11 children, to Josephine and Patrick McNamee, both of whom immigrated from Ireland to the U.S. in the late 1940s. She attended St. Matthew’s Elementary School and St Hubert’s High School in Philadelphia and earned her associates degree from Peirce College.
Mary’s career spanned 20 years at the University of Pennsylvania culminating by serving as the CFO for the Annenberg School of Communication. This is also where she met her husband of almost 40 years, Michael. They had a son, Kevin in 1993 and two years later moved to Los Angeles, Ca. There, Mary traded in her financial hat to raise her son in Brentwood.
Mary enjoyed travelling throughout California and made sure her son and friends knew every L.A. County museum and theme park intimately. Known for her sharp wit, Mary never stopped surprising or shocking people with her lively sense of humor. Anyone who walked in her door instantly knew they were welcome. She was a storyteller at heart who truly loved sharing the highs and lows with those she cherished.
Mary is survived by her husband Michael; son Kevin; sisters Peggy, Aggie, Jeanette, and Veronica as well as their spouses; and by brothers Michael, Patrick, Brian and Shawn and their spouses. In addition, she is survived by 23 nieces and nephews and 21 great nieces and nephews.
