Nelson, Martha Louise CARLSBAD -- Martha Louise Nelson joined her late husband Jim, in the next life on July 29, 2013, at the age of 80 years old. A long time Carlsbad resident, Martha was born in Oklahoma, moving to California with her family as a teenager. Martha was filled with love, wit, and independence. She was fiercely loyal to her family, which included the many dogs she and Jim brought into their home throughout their marriage. She loved adventure and the outdoors. She encouraged her sons to pursue their dreams. She was always ready to reach out to those in need. Martha is survived by her sons, Dirk and Shan (Laurie); and her grandchildren, Jesse, Micah, Jessica, Alyson and Cassidy. The family would also like to thank the caregivers at Emeritus in Carlsbad for the quality care and genuine concern they gave to both Martha and Jim. A memorial service will be held at 1p.m., on Tuesday, August 6, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA.
