Maria Elena Romero (Nena) entered into heaven March 14, 2011. Nena is survived by Maria Guadalupe Mendoza, her loving daughter of 56 years and Humberto Carlos Romero, her loving son of 37 years; and her grandchildren, Violeta Iliana McCreary of Chula Vista, Marco Antonio Angulo of Alaska and David Leon and Henry Leon of Escondido. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren.
Nena was born on June 29, 1931, in San Vicente, Mexico, to Maria and Zotero Garcia. She received a certificate of completion in sewing and cutting and embroidery from Colima, Mexico. She enjoyed sewing and designing. She was a teacher for a few years in the city of Colima and a seamstress in the city of San Diego. Following her daughter’s father’s death, Nena made the choice to immigrate to the United States for a better life. She later became a United States citizen and set the example for her grandchildren to follow your dreams. She always talked about doing what was right and to always do your best.
Everyone who knew Nena loved her and will miss her. Life here on earth will not be the same without her here with us, but we all know that one day we will be with her again in heaven. Nena we will always love you and keep you close in our hearts.
Arrangements are under the direction of Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Mortuary, and Crematory, Oceanside, California.
