Margaret Elizabeth Ellmore (“Peg,” “Peggy,” or “Ma”) passed away on Monday, 10/2/23, unexpectedly in Oceanside, California at 74 years young. She was born in Poughkeepsie, New York. She attended local schools and colleges and worked at Dutchess Community College for many years.
Peggy was pre-deceased by her parents, Frederick and Beatrice Swartout, her late ex-husband, James Ellmore, and 2 step-children. She was the youngest of 4 siblings (2 brothers and 1 sister). She is survived by son Timothy Ellmore, daughter-in-law Elena Crestani, daughter Shannon Snyder, son-in-law Rick Snyder, and 5 step-children. She had three grandchildren, Alessia and Andrew Ellmore and Daisy Snyder.
Peggy enjoyed students and many friendships formed while working at Dutchess Community College. She was described by friends as thoughtful, giving, and kind. Her proudest accomplishment in life was her two children. She made a brave decision to leave New York after many decades and retire in California closer to her daughter. She loved visits with her grandchildren and taking wonderful care of her youngest granddaughter, Daisy, when her daughter worked. After a lifetime of being afraid of the water, her grandchildren inspired her to swim, and she enjoyed taking private swim lessons. Peggy was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Funeral arrangements are private at Eternity Hills Mortuary and Crematory at Eternity Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside, California on 10/14/23. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests any fond memories and/or photos be posted to their website.
