Kent was born on April 21, 1958, in Burbank, CA. He grew up in Malibu, CA and spent his childhood exploring the outdoors and nurturing his love for nature. He was a man of great integrity, whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of all who knew him. As a father, he was a guiding light for his children, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams and instilling in them the values of hard work, compassion, and resilience.
Kent’s greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years, Ana Dowey, his brother Bourke Dowey, his beloved children, Erik and Andrew Dowey, and his Grandchild Wyatt Dowey, who carry forward his legacy of love and strength. He was a constant source of support. His laughter echoed through their lives, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
In addition to being a devoted father, Kent was a dedicated employee and respected colleague. Kent served with the Los Angeles County Fire Department for 35 years. His commitment to excellence and his genuine care for others earned him admiration from all those who had the privilege of working alongside him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, share wisdom, or offer a listening ear.
A celebration of Kent’s life will be held on October 18th 2024 at Eternal Hills, in Oceanside, CA, at 1pm. Where family and friends are invited to share their memories and stories. A reception will be held in Eternal Hills Seaside room following the committal service from 3-6pm.
Though Kent is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He taught us all the importance of love, laughter, and living life to the fullest. We will carry his memory forward, cherishing the lessons he imparted and the love he so freely gave.
