North Terrace Fourth Grade Elementary School Teacher, Kathleen Jaksik, 62, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, Feb. 10th surrounded by her loving family. With courage and grace, Kathleen accepted unexpected news with remarkable fortitude shortly after Christmas that an invasive Melanoma had compromised her otherwise good health.
Having taught for over twenty five years in the Oceanside School District, Kathleen arrived each day with deliberate purpose to inspire and educate her students. At home and around her family, Kathleen steadfastly represented family values and traditions. Her door and her heart were always open to those in need, an endless stream of her son’s friends, and for every special occasion.
Born, December 18, 1950, Kathleen is survived by her husband, Jack Jaksik, her son, Sam Stevens, Step-son, Eric, Step-Daughter, Heather, her brothers, Raymond, Randy, Joseph and Brian and her sister, Julie. Preceding her into the arms of our Heavenly Father, are her parents, Raymond and Irene, her son, Matthew Stevens, and her sister, Elaine.
Kathleen was a graduate of Divine Child High School in Dearborn, Michigan and Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI.. Having graduated in three and a half years, Kathy then earned her teaching certification and later went on to achieve a Masters of Education. She looked forward to retirement satisfied and confident that she had accomplished her mission to provide a solid base and guidance for her students to advance.
The Jaksik, Stevens and Biernacki families would like to welcome all for funeral services held at 4:30pm, March 1, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Carlsbad. A private burial service will take place Monday, March 4, 2013 at San Luis Rey Mission in Oceanside.
