1929 – 2013
Josephine Walter, age 83, passed peacefully into God’s arms on March 19th, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Josie, as family and friends called her, was born on
May 12th,1929, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to Ralph and Nancy Teti.
Josie married John Walter in 1954, and they raised four children in Springfield, Virginia. In 1992, Josie retired after forty one years with The Bell Atlantic Telephone Company and in 1997 moved to Ramona, California, with her husband John, who predeceased her in 1998. She is survived by her four children, Darlene Reehling (Jeff,) Nancy Stewart (John,) Mark, and Michael; one granddaughter, Tana; one great-grandson, Gage; three sisters, Millie Hill, Terry Howard, Shirley Ballantyne; one brother, Ralph Teti; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is also survived by her closest friend of over 70 years, Matilda Bradford. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Katherine and Mary.
A devout Italian Catholic, Josie was always kind and caring; she was generous and open minded throughout her life. She was a wonderful dancer and an accomplished cook, who loved gathering her family for dinner followed by the traditional card games. Josie also enjoyed traveling, both in the U.S. and in Europe. She relished visiting new churches on every trip.
Josie’s cheerful, happy presence will be missed every day by all her family and friends. The family greatly appreciates all the expressions of kindness from everyone who knew her.
A viewing will be held at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside on April 1st, from 4PM to 8PM. There will be a private Mass and service for family members on April 2nd.
