Joseph A Agrusa

Joseph A. Agrusa, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at his home in Oceanside. Joe was preceded in death by Rosalie, his loving wife of 35 years and his son James Joseph. He is survived by his sister, Joy M. Jones, his three children, Tina M. Palleson (Brian), Lori A. Johnson (Gregg), and Joseph J. Agrusa, his grandchildren Tiffany Littlejohn, Jeremy Johnson, Travis Johnson, Nicolette Agrusa, Ann Marie Agrusa and Ryan Korstad, great-grandchildren, Keeyana Newman, Jonathon Littlejohn and River Johnson.

Joe started his passion of providing good Italian food by opening up Villa De Agrusa’s Italian Restaurant in Bellflower, Calif. In 1965 he relocated his family to Escondido where and Rosie started AGRUSA’S SUPER SUBMARINE SANDWICHES. His signature “Submarine Sandwich” grew quickly in popularity as they expanded their franchise to 7 locations. The original Agrusa’s on Valley Parkway in Escondido is still open.

Joe was dearly loved and will be missed beyond measure. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside on Saturday, July 29th at 10:00 am. Joe will be interred with Rosie at Oak Hill Cemetery
