This time around it gets harder and the heartache of losing my cousin John is like losing my brother. 

John was his own person! He did things on his own terms. He was a gentle guy, quiet, sweet, very caring and compassionate just to name a few things to love about him. He comes alive especially on stage and banging out his drums. Music was everything to him, it literally gave him LIFE! 

John, please say hi to my little brother Noel for me up in heaven. It brings me peace knowing you both are together. Rest in paradise and I love you ❤️Aloha . 

I’ve known John since we were both young kids. My parents and his parents have been good friends since they have met each other in Arizona. It was because of our parents that we got to have quite some time together. We may not have been related by blood, but we were for sure like family. He was like a little brother/cousin to me. Playing video games and watching wrestling together are the memories I have with John whether it was him coming over to our place or me staying at his place for the weekend. As we got a little older as kids, I knew he was into music a lot. One band that I remember him and I talked about and we both liked was the band, Blink 182. From hearing his cousin’s eulogy and reading one of his friend’s posts on Facebook, he also liked the rapper Marshall Mathers and the pop group NSync. Other similar music interests we both had. It’s amazing how John grew up with the passion in music and developed such talents, being able to play multiple musical instruments, and was in a couple bands. It brings me comfort knowing that John had a lot of friends and loved ones who were there and cared for him. The memory I have with John will last forever in my mind and in my heart. I love you Johnny Boy. Always and forever.

We will all miss John. He was a wonderful soul and I will truly miss his calm and humble energy. His sense of humor would brighten up any day at work and I'll miss our conversations. I'll continue to play reggae music at work in remembrance of John. 

Rest in Peace, my friend. You will always be in our hearts. 

John had a love for music like no other. He was very versatile and the best drummer I've ever had a chance to make music with. He was the most even tempered person I have ever met. I will cherish the shows, practices and friendship he gave me. I'm going to miss that smile and his laugh. I find peace in knowing he had a happy life and is loved by so many. I'm going to miss you Johnny Boy. I can't wait till we meet again on the big stage!!! Love you, brother.

Below is the eulogy I read for John's viewing on February 22nd: 

For those of you who donʼt know me, I am one of Johnʼs cousins. For the past week I've stared at this blank document thinking about how to start this or what to write, and found myself still left with a blinking cursor on a blank screen. And I think a large part of it is due to the fact that itʼs difficult to grasp that this has even happened. I regret not having many current memories with John, but the memories we have weʼll have forever. 

John and I were some of the babies of this family and grew up together, which naturally made us partners in crime. I loved my cousin and and
admired how fearless he was to take on life, even at a young age. Whatever
shenanigans or mischief he discovered, I wanted to be a part of it. John and I went through a time of hoping that Jurassic Park would come to life (more so him than me; I was secretly scared of the movie), we both wore questionable 90's fashion thanks to our parents, older siblings, & cousins, and had an obsession with what we considered to be the greatest movie of all time, Space Jam. His willingness to literally play any game together expanded to him agreeing to play “supermodels” with me, my sister Christine, and cousin Agnes; John was Rachel Hunter. As pre-teens we
both discovered pukka shells, developed an addition to Sunkissed orange soda, and had Eminemʼs Marshall Mathers album on repeat.

Prior to this, I hadnʼt thought of some of these memories in a really long time. But now more than ever, those are memories I will cherish forever. 

John, I know you can hear me. I hope those memories do our childhood
justice. I miss you and will always be your partner in crime. I love you.

I worked with John at the MCX for 2 years, and he was always ready to help in any way that he could. In those 2 years, I never once saw him lose his cool, either, which is amazing being in retail. He definitely is missed, we lost an amazing person, that's an understatement. He left an impression with me. Thinking and praying for family and friends that knew him. 

I worked with, John for two years. He was such an amazing person! Always ready and willing to help in any way he could. He had such a great personality and calming presence. I was so saddened to hear the news of his passing. He left a lasting impression on me that I will forever carry in my heart.

John was the first one I met at the MCX he was my trainer at the gun counter for a week we had a lot of funny memories and especially in the warehouse doing inventory and merchandising. I love how we kept in contact and you always messaged me when you had a show. John you will always be one of my favorite persons. You had that personality that made it contagious to be around.
