John A. Rudell, born September 7, 1934 in Seattle, Washington. Passed away in Oceanside, California, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
He was the oldest of seven children born to Esther and Joe Rudell . He grew up in a lively family with six younger sisters, residing in Washington State and California, growing up and going to school in different cities.
John joined the Air Force shortly after high school and was trained in Biloxi, Mississippi to become a radio operator.
In 1954, he married Patricia Diane Rudell and they had a wonderful life together, raising four children and traveling the world as a military family.
After his military career, John joined the police department in Killeen, Texas and served as a patrol officer and police photographer for twenty one years. Following his retirement, the family moved to Oceanside, California, where he enjoyed traveling, kite flying by the ocean, learning how to roller blade and catching up on reading his favorite books.
John was predeceased by his parents Esther and Joe, and sister Christine. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Diane, and their children, Laura Lynn, Linda Marie, Eric Joseph and Lana Catherine. Grandchildren, Sarah, Audrey, Lauren, Danielle, Margaux, Adrian and Ethan. Great-grandchildren, Matthew, Starr, Michael, Chloe and Hailey. Five sisters, ViAnne, Mary, Patty, Laura and Stephanie and nieces and nephews.
John will be missed by all who knew him for his zest for life and always wanting to learn new things.
Services are scheduled Friday, August 2nd 2011 at 1p.m. at Eternal Hills Mortuary, Oceanside, California.
