A beloved husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather- John W. Lloyd passed away on December 30, 2018 at the age of 91 years old.
Born to Ben & Greta Lloyd on Nov 8, 1927, John grew up as a Baptist minister’s son and the youngest of four children. He attended college at University of Redlands, served in the army at the close of WWII, and eventually became an educator and administrator in California public schools..
John Lloyd was fascinated with psychology; he earned a Ph.D. through USIU and became a psychologist for the Escondido School District. He served as Director of Pupil Personnel for the Escondido High School District designing programs to meet the needs of all students. One such was helping unwed teen mothers complete high school.
After retirement, John continued to use his talents when he participated in public TV access through a show called “Silver Linings”- an educational program geared for seniors. But his interests did not stop there; he produced plays, wrote a book entitled “Dog Gone Crazy”, and became a realtor with his wife, Delphine.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Delphine Lloyd, daughters Chris (Ed) Evans, Suzi (Rick) Bass, and Mary (Jerry) Jaramillo, stepson Rick Valles Key, stepdaughter Toni (Rick) Collins, 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 5 at Eternal Hills Mortuary & Crematory - 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA.
