John Adam Balm was a young 58 years of age when he passed suddenly on January 13, 2022, in Escondido California. John was born February 5, 1963, in San Bernardino California and moved to Carlsbad California at a young age where he grew up and met his future wife, Julie, at the age of 12 while attending 6th grade camp. They stayed friends and later attended Carlsbad High School together graduating in 1981. In high school John was a champion cross country athlete and a consummate jokester who could often be found as the mastermind behind any good practical joke.
As a young professional John found his knack in Sales and proudly orchestrated the relocation of Taylor-Made Golf from Illinois to Carlsbad in the mid-80s while he served as their Vice-President of Sales. As he married his old school friend Julie (Vaughan-Chaldy) Balm and they began their family, John saw a need for less work travel and more time at home, so he left Taylor-Made, and he and Julie founded Tri City Patrol which they proudly operated for more than 27 years.
John was an incredible husband & father to his children and lived every day to provide for them and his entire family, no matter the cost to himself. Beyond these children, John and Julie never flinched in helping to raise and care for about a dozen “bonus-kids” offering anything they needed without hesitation and loved Billy, Tim, Noah, Matt, and many others just as if they were their own.
John is survived by his wife of more than 30 years Julie, their 5 children Tyler, Amanda, Jenna, Matthew & Frankie, their 7 grandchildren and John’s mother Lorraine. The children will carry on John’s legacy of service to our communities and helping others without question.
