Jocelyn K. Wilson! Wow! This woman was my mentor,a breath of fresh air, a true artist,and my second mother. I was blessed to have her watching over me for the past 20 years encouraging me and believing in me as a great person and teacher. She inpacted my life in so many ways and is the reason I'm the brilliant teacher/choreographer today.I'm proud to have been the very first scholarshiped child at Oceanside Dance Aacdemy where I saw her as a "Dance Angel" She was so unique and colorful, I couldn't stop watching her every move!I understood at a young age that we spoke the same language and knew this is where my home would always be! She taught me through sharing her passion of life and dance that there was nothing I could not do and to trust myself, even when in doubt. Most of all she gave me unconditional love and I'm so thankful I was able to be a part of her great dream and Legacy that will live on forever! . This is not an easy message for me to type, John.  If you can recall the summer of l974, in Oceanside, a young Nebraskan Navy couple moved into your apartment complex.  Jim and Kathleen (Kathy) Joy......

You and Jocelyn took us to the beach....made us lots of great meals, and basically loved us.  

Once, you went with us to Norwalk to visit Jim's Uncle Raymond and Aunt Joan.

I regret that a few months ago, just thinking for some reason about Jocelyn, I Googled her name, and found her Dance Academy.  It was no surprise to me that she was involved with dance.  That was ALWAYS her first love!

My heart is breaking because I should have emailed her....and, knowing her, she would have loved it.  I still have her letters and birth announcements.

Jocelyn was a truly extraordinary woman--full of life and energy. My daughter joined her dance studio when she was 6 and it was Jocelyn that urged us to meet her best friend Robin who was starting a theater on ice team. We met Robin, fell in love with her (because she was just as spunky as Jocelyn) and joined THeater on Ice too. Our relationship with Jocelyn grew as my daughter grew. She was a very special coach and mentor--firm but loving, demanding but nuturing, and always, always very supportive and kind. I will always cherish my memories of her dance classes with my daughter, and of our time together on California Theater on Ice. SHe was an amazing choreographer and an awesome friend. To her family, my heartfelt thanks for sharing her with my family all these years---and my deepest sympathy for your loss. And to Jelly---Nealie and I miss you!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family.  I wish I could have had the chance to say good bye.  Jocelyn was such a vibrant person and will be missed dearly.  Just know she will always be with you.

Having Jocelyn be a part of 3 generations of my family (my mom, me, and my daughter) was an incredible.  She was an amazing woman, leaving behind a legacy to be proud of!  I take great comfort knowing she and my mom are dancing their hearts out up in Heaven.

Dear Jocelyn's Family, I'm so sorry to hear about Jocelyn's passing. My sympathy goes out to all of you. She was a star that shined wherever she was & I'm so thankful I had a chance to be part of ODA with my 2 daughters both learning various forms of dancing.
Tina & Angie started dancing " ODA 20 years ago when it 1st opened its doors. They continued for another 6+ years. I still have their costumes & the Blue Satin ODA Jackets with the "I" dotted with a diamond with their names embroidered on them! What fond memories these were & so many more. Jocelyn was an inspiration she touched the lives of so many. I have so many wonderful memories of her that I will treasure always. Jewelana, Angelica, and Johnny I pray that God will give you strength and comfort . She will be missed by all!

 I'm so sorry to hear that you had to say good-bye to your dear mother. There is nothing in life that can prepar you for such a great loss. All though  there are many things you will still need her for,  know that she has already given you the answer all you have to do is just take a moment and listen to your heart as you will find the answer instilled within you.self. Johnny know that we will always be here for you.

My deepest sympathy to Jocelyn's family.   It was such a shock seeing her name on the newspaper.  Jocelyn was so full of life and was always kind and positive to everyone.  I've got to know her during my daughter's brief dancing lesson at ODA and then at her studio in Mission Avenue and when her daughter was involved in the Miss Fil Am pageant in 2005.

Jocelyn you were such an asset in the community.  We will miss you.

It is definitely a shock!  Our daughter started dancing at ODA at the age of 5 when Jocelyn had just opened the school and danced there for many years.  It was such a pleasure to see the studio grow every year and to witness Jocelyn's efforts and creativity to make it to what it became.  Her children are in our thoughts and prayers (the Birnie family) .

My family had the pleasure of knowing Jocelyn for many years through her love of dance.  Both my children, myself and even my husband (who hates to dance) performed with ODA.  Both my children were competitive dancers for many years with ODA. She loved her children and her ODA family and will be truly missed.  Our thoughts and love are with her family in this hard time.

We have so much to be grateful for... Jocelyn was an amazing woman that taught us so much. I love her passion for everything she did. My family has Ms. Jocelyn, and her beautiful children in our thoughts and prayers. We love you all... and will be here for you.

I remember meeting Jocelyn when I was teaching youth drama classes at MiraCosta College, and had Jewelana as a student.  Jocelyn was so vibrant.  Over the years working with Jocelyn and her students for Oceanside Days of Art I, was impressed by Jocelyn's grace, and the way she taught her students.  My prayers are with you.  Her talents will live on with her children and students.

My daughter Lindsey and I had the pleasure of knowing and learning dances from Jocelyn for several years. My husband Bobby also got to know and love Jocelyn. I lost my mom last month and know what a void there will be in  her childrens's lives. My heart goes out to her children.

I remember vividly dancing alongside Jocelyn in a Mother/Daughter dance performed to the song I Leave Something Good Behind. How true those words were because Jocelyn touched so many lives and will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
