Oceanside, Ca.~~~It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Janice Schroeder on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Janice was just a few weeks shy of her 75th birthday and died after a long battle with cancer. She was a fighter and defied the odds and predictions for many years.
Janice was born in Massachusetts and moved with her family to Van Nuys, Ca. in 1957. She was one of four siblings which included a sister and two brothers. The family moved to Montclair, Ca. in 1960 and there she enjoyed her teen years including graduating from Montclair High School in 1966. Janice married and gave birth to two children, a daughter, Jenny and a son, Kenny to whom she was a devoted and loving mother. She was always a hard worker and had several positions in the work force. While deciding she would be happier as a single woman, fate led her to a position at the San Bernardino County Fire Department. There, she met her forever love, Robert Schroeder, eventually retiring and moving to Oceanside Ca. They enjoyed many travels together including her favorite destination~~Hawaii. Janice loved to be near the water, so she and Bob made a wonderful home with a daily view of the ocean and glorious sunsets. Her mother, Teresa, was so happy about Jan's new home, she said it's as good as dying and going to heaven"~~and now she has.
Jan was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all her knew her.
Janice was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Teresa O'Halloran, her sister, Elaine, as well as her previous husband, Mike Puhl. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert, her daughter Jenny Zabala and spouse Vince, her son, Kenny Puhl and spouse Kristi, her six wonderful grandchildren, as well as her two brothers Dave & Joe O'Halloran, their wives and several nieces and nephews.
Janice will be laid to rest at Eternal Hills Cemetary1999 S. El Camino Real, Oceanside, Ca. on Thursday October 26, 2023, with a viewing from 8:00 am to 10:00am, a memorial service at 10:00 am and a graveside service following at 11:15 am. Theme/Dress: Tropical/Hawaiian
