On Tuesday, December 25, 2018, James “Jim” Wong, loving husband, father, and grandpa, passed away at the age of 71. Jim was born on May 6, 1947 in San Antonio, TX to Louis and Lorine (Hood) Wong and had two sisters, May and Linda. After graduating high school, he joined the Marine Corps where he served four years and fought in Vietnam. Jim was a woodworker for 45 years and co-owner of Jim/N/I Systems in San Marcos. Jim married Jeanette in 1992 and they have been happily married for 26 years. With their marriage, the families blended with Jim’s five children: Jamie, Cainen, Aja, Austin and Sellecca and Jeanette’s four children: Tracy, Roger, Ashley, and David.
Jim had a passion for playing poker and loved spending nights at the casino. He was a regular at his grandchildren’s sporting events on the weekends. He also loved finding treasures at garage sales and antique stores. He enjoyed smoking meats and barbequing with his family. He was known for his honesty and hard work, and he was kind and loving.
Jim was preceded in death by his father (Louis), mother (Lorine), sister (May), and son, (Tracy). He is survived by his wife Jeanette, his sister Linda, his children: Jaime, Cainen, Aja, Austin, Sellecca, Roger, Ashley, David, his 11 grandchildren: Karastyn, Allyssa, Ethan, Chaz, Aiden, Kharisma, Skylar, Dakota, Kiara, Kennedy, and Blakely, his two son-in-laws, three daughter-in-laws, brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 25th, 2018 at Eternal Hills on El Camino Real in Oceanside at 10 AM.
