Horace Dean Gillikin

Bud was born on November 30, 1935 in Otway, North Carolina to Warden and Elsie Gillikin. Joining the Navy in 1952, Bud served his country at several duty stations in the United States and overseas. He retired from the Navy after 28 years and settled in Oceanside, California. He went on to work in the Garden Shop and as a security guard at Target in Oceanside and retired after 15 years. Bud enjoyed reading, camping, crossword puzzles, serving in his church, and spending time with his friends and family. He especially loved being with his grandchildren.

Bud is survived by his wife of 58 years, JoAnn Gillikin, son, Richard Gillikin and wife Sandra Gillikin of Beaufort, North Carolina, daughter, Pamela Comer and husband Douglas Comer of Oceanside, California, and his four grandsons: Nicholas and Ryan Gillikin and Zachary and Jesse Comer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cornerstone Christian Church at 1010 Crestview Road, in Vista, California on January 25, 2014 at 12:00pm. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside. All former colleagues and friends are welcome.

Bud was a loving husband, father, grandfather, Christian, and a friend to all. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
