

Erika Jazmin Hernandez, age 28, of San Marcos, CA died Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Anchorage, Alaska. Erika was born on January 20, 1988 in Durango, Mexico. Her mother Virginia Moreno came to the United States with Erika looking for a better life in the early 90’s. Virginia Moreno was a hardworking mother, that raised Erika with her three sisters; Stacey Moreno, Taylor Moreno and Leslie Lopez.
Erika was a high honor roll student throughout her educational years and graduated with high honors from San Marcos High School in 2005. Shortly after graduating high school Erika joined the United States Army and selected to become an 88H Heavy Cargo Specialist. She specialized in ensuring all of Army Supply’s were transferable through cargo and equipment from air, land and water methods. She served a total of 8 years and two months and then honorable discharged in 2013. Erika was also a 100% disabled Veteran who always donated and volunteered for the disabled. Some of her highest decorations and medals while serving include:
Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (5th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, and the Army Service Ribbon.
Erika was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend, who always put others before herself. She was the most generous, warm hearted, loving person that touched so many lives with her presence. Erika favorite hobby was simply to spend time with her family and also enjoyed traveling.
Erika is survived by her husband, Gerardo Hernandez and children Jazmin (5yr old) and Jason (2yr old). Erika will forever be loved by all those she impacted and left behind.
Memorial Service will be held at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1999 El Camino
Real, Oceanside, CA 92054 on May 4, 2016 at 10 am.
