Emma was born in El Paso, Texas and later moved to Carson, CA where she raised her 4 children.
Emma was well known for her compassion for children and was a devoted childcare giver for 20+ years. While she was a devoted church member, Emma spent a good deal of time as a volunteer at her congregation, St. Mary’s Star of the Sea, as a member of the altar society and Guadalupe Guild. She was also in the Legion of Mary Society and The Flower of the Altar Group. Emma was active with the soup kitchen. She was well known and respected by her church parishioners for her devotion in assisting all the groups.
On Sundays, after mass, you could find Emma and her fellow church friends, enjoying coffee and donuts at the church community hall or at the nearby coffee shops in downtown Oceanside.
Emma was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and sister. She was an extraordinary cook and baker. Anyone who came to her house never left hungry. Her meals were always served with love, laughter and memories. Thanksgiving was her specialty. Everyone had a seat at the table and left with their own pie.
Emma was the epitome of family. Never forgetting a birthday, anniversary or any event that was special to those in her life. Emma was full of life and spirit even through her final days, smiling and sharing memories with her family as they gathered around her.
Emma is survived and missed by her husband of 70 years, Victor Garcia; their children Victor Garcia, Jr., Linda Rowland, Ben Garcia , Arthur (Cindy) Garcia and her honorary daughters Yolanda Suarez-Joerin (Bob) and Sylvia Perez (Gabriel). She will be forever cherished by her grandchildren Jessica Heilig (Howard), Benjamin Garcia (Ruby), Shera Vera (Jose), Victor Garcia, III, Brian Archer, Harwood Rowland II (Megan), Kalene Garcia and Christian Garcia.
