Eleonore Karoline (Hecker) Agricola died peacefully in her home in Oceanside, California on June 1, 2019. Eleonore was born on October 11, 1933 in the German wine country village of Grosskarlbach. It was there she taught herself English by reading American comic books after World War II and met Dan Alfred Agricola, who was serving as a Master Sargeant in the U.S. Air Force. Dan and Eleonore were married in her home town on July 7th, 1956 and Eleonore became a naturalized American citizen on February 19, 1965.
Eleonore was a devoted wife and mother and spent her over fifty years in the U.S. making a home, gardening, beautifully restoring and reupholstering antique furniture and expertly sewing stylish clothing for herself and her two loving daughters Caroline (Agricola) Bryan and Kristine Agricola.
She is survived by her daughters, Caroline and Kristine, her grandson, Lot Everett Bryan, and her great-grandchildren Lot Bryan, Jr., Felicia Bryan, Kaleb Bryan and Gabriella Samaniego. Also surviving her are three of her eight siblings; Helmut Hecker, Berthold Hecker and Margaret Hecker.
A graveside service will be held at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Oceanside at noon on Friday, June 28th, 2019.
