Edith Pai affectionately known as “Gail” passed away at her home in Oceanside, California on December 20th, 2024 with her daughters at her side.
Born on May 14, 1947 in Jacksonville, NC, Gail was the daughter of the late Allie and Ada Shotwell.
A devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. Gail will be greatly missed by her surviving sisters Brenda Rezentes, Barbara Ellis and stepbrother James Shotwell. Along with her daughters Kuuipo Lei Pai-Holt, Lokelani Ann Carpenter, in addition to her niece and nephews Roy “Sonny” Rezentes, Christina Martinez, Stephan Tashoff and Daniel Rezentes. Beloved by her five grandchildren: Alex Ozuna, Teilor Holt, Jason Carpenter, Chandler Holt and Brendan Holt and her 10 great grandchildren.
Gail will be welcomed into eternal rest by her son Benjamin Pai Jr. whom she lovingly called her “babydoll”.
Gail dedicated her life to her family, which lead to working at her children’s school. She started as an aide in their classes, then a PE teacher with very creative physical activities and even helped implement the very first computer lab. This fueled her passion for technology. As her children educations progressed so did her career. After 35 years of being a Purchasing Assistant, she retired from Oceanside Unified School District.
Beyond her career achievements Gail had a serious case of wanderlust and was always looking forward to her next adventure with her family or the “on the go eight”, especially the “livingroom people”.
Mom you will be sorely missed, lovingly remembered and always treasured. Your love, compassion and kindness will forever remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know you.
Love,
Your dear heart daughters forever ❤️
A graveside service will be held on January 10, 2025 at 2:00p.m.
