Dorothy (Dottie) was born on December 3, 1934 in Newport, Nebraska. She grew up in the Midwest with her seven siblings. Dottie became a nurse and married a high school sweetheart who became a US Naval Aviator. Their travels were many and even in her continued nursing career, they managed to have six children.
A loving, devoted mother and a “Friend to ALL.” Dottie, was best known for her ability to converse with all walks of life, especially when it came to talking about our Savior. She was known to be a true prayer warrior and many people cherished those petitions on their behalf, which she so lovingly (and quickly) expressed. She had unwavering devotion to her family, near and far, and to her surrounding community. Her deep faith in God was inspiring to all that crossed her path. Dorothy took delight in taking care of her many flowers, strolling to the beach where everyone seemed to know her, and fellowshipping with members of her church family. Her heart always went out to the people searching for recovery as she maintained over 45 years of sobriety, herself.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Carol Nielsen and brother-in-law Leonard, son Kirk Clausen and daughter-in-law Pam, son Gregory Clausen, daughter Paula Collins and son-in-law Mark, daughter Pamela Berie, daughter Penny Titmas and son-in-law Robert. 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Waldo Douglas Barnes, mother Emma Lillian (Kinney) Barnes, Brothers John and Gerald Barnes, sisters Phyllis Anderson, Helen Miller, Onie Schneider and Lois Goodin, and son Chad Clausen.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Dorothy, to be held Saturday, October 28, 2023, details to be determined. All expressions of condolences and other family wishes are welcome.
Dorothy Lou Clausen’s legacy is one of strength, fellowship, true zest for the Lord, and spontaneity in any crowd. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be incredibly missed.
