Long time Oceanside native Delores Davis Sloan passed away Monday, March 18, 2024 at San Diego, California. She was the daughter of the late Harold B. and Alma Davis who came to Oceanside in the 1920's. Her Grandparents, Clarence and Mabel Davis were established Oceanside residents at that time. Her Civil War Great Grandparents Phillip and Sarah Davis also settled in Oceanside and rest with Clarence and Mabel in Ocean View Cemetery.
When Harold and Alma came to Oceanside the population was 2,200 and 22 were their Davis relatives. Her Father was Captain on the Oceanside Police Department for 25 years and her Mother was a loving wife and homemaker.
Delores was a lifetime member of the Oceanside Historical Society, donating an abundance of historical items saved by the Davis family over the years. She was very active at Oceanside-Carlsbad Union high School, graduating in 1955. Delores married Arthur L. Sloan from Vista. They had three children together, Nicholas, Shelly and Criston.
Predeceased by their Son Nicholas Davis Sloan, her Sister Donna Nelson, and her Cousin Jack White, she is survived by her Daughter-in-Law Gillian P.E. Jones-Sloan of Lakeside, Daughter and Son-in-Law Shelly and Gary Smith of Oklahoma, Son and Daughter-in-Law Criston and Gail Sloan of Santee; 6 Grandchildren Nicholas M Sloan (Spouse Suzie Sloan), Tanith Lindahn (Spouse Ryan Lindahn), Jeremy Smith, Casey Smith, Criston Sloan II (Spouse Meghan Sloan), Rosemary Bacon (Spouse Chris Bacon). Nine Great Grandchildren. Two nieces, Lezlie Metcalf and Lisa Metcalf Day.
Services will be held in the Chapel at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 12:30pm. Graveside service will follow.
