Daemon Tannler, 48, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020, in his sleep at his group home in Oceanside, CA. He is mercifully no longer suffering after struggling since age 12 with a bipolar diagnosis and drug and alcohol addiction. He was clean and sober for 4 years and received his 4-year token from his AA group a few days before his death.
Daemon was a lifelong resident of Southern California. He was born at Anaheim General Hospital in Anaheim. In his formative years, he lived in Orange, Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa, before his family moved for the long-term to Oceanside in October 1977.
Growing up, he was called Rom and as Rom, he attended Casita Elementary School, Washington Middle School, Vista High School and Rancho Buena Vista High School. During these years, he was an avid surfer and participated in soccer and baseball. He was also a talented artist.
Daemon never married, but throughout the years, enjoyed the love of his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews near and far.
He is preceded in death by his father, Keith Andrew Tannler, born in Oak Park, IL, who passed away February 24, 2010.
He is survived by his mother, Margie ChanTannler, born in Stanford, CA and raised in Los Altos, CA.
He is survived by his brother, Ben Tannler; his sister-in-law, Stephanie McKellar Tannler; his nephews Andrew Tannler and Benjamin Tannler; and his niece Susanne Tannler, of Oceanside.
He is also survived by his sister, Briah Tannler Helfrich; his brother-in-law Nick Helfrich; his nephew Brexton Helfrich and his niece Sloane Helfrich, currently in Pullman, WA.
