Christened “Queen Celia” by military troops in the Middle East, Celia Robinson Landis, surrounded by her daughters and many close friends, entered heaven on Sunday October 23, 2016, after a valiant battle with congestive heart failure.
Celia was a woman of conviction and compassion. Her concern for others was combined with her remarkable energy and sense of purpose. She lived her life with the well-being and rights of others always foremost in mind.
Celia spent more than 7 years sending care packages to troops in the Middle East, efforts that contributed to her being honored as one of the 2004 North County Times Women of Merit. She was an accomplished artist, author, and poet. Her home was filled with colorful paintings she had done as well as sculptured figures that adorned her garden. She was an avid supporter of the arts.
Celia was born on September 6, 1921 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Her family moved to Brooklyn, New York when she was a child. She married Dr. Joel Landis, moved to California and had 2 daughters, Rosalee and Marlene. In her later years she met and married Emil Winters and moved to Carlsbad and then Oceanside, California. She spent her final years in San Marcos California.
There wasn't a person on earth that met her that didn't fall in love with her beautiful, kind, and loving heart. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed her path.
She is survived by her daughter Rosalee Hacker and husband Norman Hacker, daughter Marlene Landis and partner Stan Wantuch, and granddaughter Megan Hacker. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Max Robinson, brothers Robert and Saul Robinson, and her husbands, Joel Landis and Emil Winters.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chapel at Eternal Hills at 1:00 on Saturday, December 10. All who knew and loved her are invited.
