Barbara Schilling, 78, passed away July 25, 2013. She was born October 6, 1934 in Los Angeles, California to Albert Giegele and Theresa Waas Geigele. She married Raymond Schilling and together they had four children. They later divorced and she moved from Los Angeles to Oceanside, California.
Barbara was raised Catholic, a devoted student of the Course in Miracles, and a 40 year member and mentor of Alcoholic Anonymous. She changed many people’s lives through her unyielding source of wise counsel and loving comfort for all who knew her. She always accepted everyone who passed through her door as her own and loved every minute she spent with them.
Barbara enjoyed gardening, pottery, watching movies, walking along the ocean, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and her companion Charlie Williams. She was always upbeat, determined to live a life better than yesterday, and stressed the importance to love one another. Barbara’s ke3en presence of mind, common sense, and enduring faith carried her through all the challenges and opportunities in her life. Barbara was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her legacy is amazing and those who knew her will miss her beautiful mind, quick smile, and angelic presence.
She is survived by: her loving children, Penny Dentzel, Stephanie Martin Thurlow, Mark Schilling, and Sheila Schilling; and her hardworking grandchildren, Zaryn Dentzel, Kristen Martin, Sophia Dentzel, Kyle Martin, Katherine Perez, Noah Dentzel, Cody Schilling, Austin Robertson, and Blake Robertson; her two beautiful great grandchildren, Jayden Perez, and Bella Perez; and her beloved brother Albert Giegele.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Dignity Memorial’s Eternal Hills Memorial Park Mortuary, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, California 92054. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alcoholics Anonymous.
