Anna Marie “Jojie” Josephine Morelos Ladrillono passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023, and spent her final days surrounded by family and friends. She courageously battled a rare form of cancer for three years, outliving doctors' expectations. Born on October 19, 1961, in Tondo, Manila, Philippines, Anna is the proud daughter of Jose and Leticia, who both preceded her in death.
Anna went to school at the Immaculate Conception Academy of Manila (1967-1979). She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the East (1984) and continued to study optometry at the Centro Escolar University (1989).
In 1989, Anna bravely immigrated to the US with her former husband and eldest daughter, Patricia. The following year Anna had her youngest daughter, Pamela-Janay. Ten years later, she fell in love with Michael (Mike) after meeting him at a Mexican restaurant in Bremerton, Washington. They married in Oceanside, California, combining their families, and jokingly called themselves the Filipino Brady Bunch with the addition of Mike’s two boys, Kristofer and Justin.
Throughout the years, Anna lived a full life with her family in Bremerton and later in Oceanside. For several years, she worked as an optometrist assistant, helping patients to see clearly and find the perfect pair of glasses. She found joy in traveling to the Philippines and taking road trips with her husband. Her voice was incredible – Anna could be found singing ballads around the house or testing new karaoke songs. Those who dared to play against her in poker often lost and recognized her competitive nature. She was a wonderful cook, and many were lucky to enjoy her delicious Filipino dishes and desserts. Anna and Mike built a beautiful garden in their backyard, growing fruits and vegetables that they would share with neighbors and loved ones. She was a strong, selfless, and spirited wife, mother, sister, and daughter.
Anna is survived and loved immensely by her husband, Michael; children, Patricia, Kristofer, Pamela-Janay, and Justin; son-in-law Cesar and daughter-in-law Mariko; grandchildren Brody and Cecilia; and granddogs Kinako and Champurrado. She will be missed by so many.
A Celebration of Life will occur on Friday, May 5, 4-8 PM with a Viewing, Rosary, and Remarks. On Saturday, May 6, from 8-11 AM, there will be a Viewing followed by a Mass.
Guests are encouraged to wear bright colors in celebration of Anna's life. Flowers can be sent to Eternal Hills on Thursday, May 4 or to Ladrillono Residence.
