Allan Forrest Scott passed away peacefully with his family on Dec 21, 2020. He was born on September 13, 1944 in Renton, WA to Doreen M. Hanlin (deceased) and Forrest Scott (deceased). Allan was raised in the King County, WA area by his mother and stepfather Clifford R. Welborn. He attended schools in Ridgefield, WA and Bolsa Grande High School in Garden Grove. Allan was a good student and athlete, earning letters in baseball and basketball.
After graduating from high school in 1962, Allan proudly joined the United States Air Force, serving as a medic in Medical Service during the Vietnam Era. During his time with the USAF, he was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX and March Air Force Base in Riverside County, CA. Upon his honorable discharge from the USAF, he continued working in the medical field at Hoag Hospital, Newport Beach and Glendale Memorial Hospital. Allan's passion of helping others followed him throughout his life.
Allan moved to La Crescenta, CA, a small community north Glendale, where he started his family. It was at this time he began working for the City of Glendale in the Motor Maintenance Department. Soon after, he transferred to the City's Water & Power Department as a meter reader, and finally retiring as a manager for the City Public Service Department after over 35 years. Allan enjoyed his time with the City, and was well-respected by his peers and family of friends. Aside from being a father, one of his proudest achievements was graduating from Glendale College. A life-long learner, he always encouraged others to pursue educational goals.
After his retirement, Allan moved to Carlsbad, CA to be closer to his daughters Tammy and Rene’. Looking for activities to keep him busy, he became an active member of American Legion Post 127, where he eventually served as post commander. He was very proud to have been part of the organization for over 25 years. He also participated in the city's softball league, where you would find him in the infield for a number of seasons.
Throughout his life, Allan's other passions included backyard basketball games, dirt bike riding on his Suzuki, playing tennis with his brothers, swimming and boogie boarding, collecting rocks for his yard along the beach, watching movies, reading, and most of all listening to his classic rock albums.
You could always catch him with his Ray Ban Aviators sunglasses, wearing his favorite Nike tennis shoes, Dodgers hat and of course with his flannel shirts with shorts. Those who knew him best was well-aware of his quirky sense of humor, his contagious laugh, beautiful blue eyes and of course his welcoming smile.
Of all the people he touched, none greater were his daughters Tamara Scott Christman Tuck and Rene’ Scott Christman Baker...Simply known as “His Girls.” Others that meant a great deal to Allan were his grandson Grayden Baker, son-in laws Matt Baker and Bill Tuck, brothers Ron Bowman (Shelley), Tim Bowman, Mark Bowman, Bob Bowman (deceased), and sister Teresa Sweet (John).
He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, Dodgers fan, “Scotty”, champion of social consciousness, proud patriot and US Air Force Veteran.
