Born August 11, 1923 in Brier Creek, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie Ford Short.
Mrs. Rhodes got great satisfaction from serving as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. For the last twenty two years, she lived in Beckley and attended Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie W. Rhodes; her brothers, Bernie Short and Darwin Short; her sisters, Edna Schmierer and Effie Short; and a grandson, Kevin Davis. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Mike Rhodes and wife, Jeanie of Brenton; daughter, Charlene Maynard and husband, Don of Lynco; grandchildren, Misty Willard, Christy Plumley and husband, Aaron, Brandon Rhodes; and great-grandchildren, Allyson and Grayson Plumley, AxL Rhodes and Shawna Davis.
