Susan is survived by her husband of 42 years, Bruce; daughter Karissa L. Kudile (Jeffrey); daughter Jenna M. Reed (Kyle); son Brian A. Ericson (Kelsey Kazmac); parents Sanford and Temmie Drucker; brother Glen Drucker (Cynthy Waxman-Drucker); brother Mark Drucker (Marian); sister Lynn Drucker-Gold; grandson Bodhi Kudile; and granddaughter Lila Kudile.
Mrs. Ericson was predeceased by her sister Karen Drucker in 1964 and her brother-in-law Roy Gold in 2018.
After bravely confronting and contending with cancer, Susan was surrounded by her family in her final days. She passed on her own terms. Susan, who had a fantastic sense of humor and a deep passion for food could be found online on any given day writing about the latest cookbook release or sharing photos of the most recent culinary masterpiece from her husband, Bruce. A gastronome to the very end, her last post online was a guide to ordering the best hospital food – a way of sharing some of her final bits of wisdom with her loyal readers and friends.
She will be fondly remembered not just by her surviving blood relatives, but also by the countless family members she affectionately collected over the years and treated as her own children – Susan had an amazing capacity for love and compassion, and a knack for finding the silver lining in every cloud, even in her own diagnosis. Susan’s passing was preceded by her black cat and familiar, Pixie, who is most definitely warming her chair, waiting on the other side.
Susan is on record as saying that her second favorite job was working in a fabric store in Freeport, NY, where she taught patrons to sew and created custom alterations. Her first favorite job, of course, was being an incredible mother, raising three children alongside her husband.
