Shelley was born in Neptune and was welcomed to a loving family as the oldest child of four. As soon as she could walk, she was introduced to horses, her first love. She loved animals, large and larger. She was very happy living on a family farm in Farmingdale for 15 years. She bred horses and sheep until 2019 when the family moved back to Ocean Twp. But she continued to see her horses almost daily.
Shelley was an artist. Her greatest talent, though, was being an extraordinary grandmother to Kara, Nora, Rylee, Cooper, Declan and Scarlett.
Shelley attended Ocean Township High School and Toby Coburn School for Fashion Careers in New York.
Shelley was predeceased by her loving parents, Lenore and Simon Todres, as well as her in-laws, Marjorie and Cedric Nussbaum and Uncle Fred Grayer and her grandparents.
She has left her loving husband Peter, heartbroken. They dated for 50 years and were married for 45 years. “She was the love of my life,” he said.
She also leaves behind daughters Jesse Mullins (Kevin), Jayme Lowenstein (Jay) and Marjorie Nussbaum, BSN RN; her loving siblings Amy Todres (Eike), Wendy Winik (Gregg) and Benjamin Todres (Leah) as well as in-laws Liza Restifo (Frank) and David Nussbaum (Laurie).
She was a loving aunt to Maya, Max, Bari, Zachary, Samantha and George.
She leaves behind aunts and uncle, Jacque Grayer, Myles and Mimi Turtz and many close cousins.
She leaves behind the dogs, Bear and Harley and her Palomino, Rosie.
Shelley discovered a spiritual way of life and wonderful friends who helped her along the way. She enjoyed many days at the beach.
In lieu of flowers, find someone who needs help, and help them. Please keep helping them until they can help someone else. Shelley's favorite charity was Fulfill, formerly The Food Bank of Monmouth County.
