Rose Linden, 99, died February 9th, 2024. Rose was born and raised in New York City. In sharing her childhood memories with her family, she recalled living in a railroad flat, the iceman, her parent’s dry cleaning and tailoring store, trips to Coney Island and the Catskill mountains, and going to the movies and the 1939 World’s Fair. She also joined a local social group and there, at age 15, first met David, her future husband.
She graduated from Hunter College with a degree in psychology. When World War II ended, Rose and David married. She then received a Masters in Social Work from Columbia and began her social work career. When their first child, Ellen, arrived they settled in Little Silver, NJ, later joined by Fred and Jerry. Rose resumed her career with the ARC of Monmouth, retiring after 17 years as the Special Services Director.
After 63 years of marriage, David passed away and Rose relocated to Seabrook in Tinton Falls. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading, gardening, social activities, and family gatherings. After her retirement, Rose researched and documented the family’s genealogy, to share with future generations. She is survived by her children Ellen (Alan), Fred (Merle) and Jerry (Lisa), grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
