Martin Ellis Mabe (Marty), age 64, of Ocean Township, New Jersey entered eternal rest in the early morning hours of July 4, 2024/28th of Sivan, 5784. He passed away in his home surrounded by his close family after a long and challenging battle with cancer.
Marty was born on May 18, 1960 to Lawrence (Larry) and Ann Dolores (Dolly) Mabe in Oyster Bay, Long Island N.Y. He grew up along side of his older sister Roberta and younger sister Marion. Marty eventually settled in Monmouth County New Jersey with his family after moving from Staten Island N.Y. Once there, he became an active member of Congregation Bet Tefillah (Young Israel of Aberdeen) and worked to improve the Jewish community in Aberdeen , N.J.
Marty’s love for cooking came to life during his weekly Sunday family dinners with his love Lisa, son Alex and daughter-in-law Kat. He enjoyed soaking up the summer sunshine whilst listening to Jimmy Buffet, fishing down the shore, and sharing a glass of wine with his friends. Marty had a deep interest and passion for American history and never stopped reading new books to further his education.
Marty had a life passion of helping those in need and giving back to his community. During his spare time, Marty volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician and Community Emergency Response member where he would drop anything he was doing to run to the aid of strangers during an emergency. He was a true American Patriot and had unwavering support for New Jersey Law Enforcement Officers, The American Armed Forces, and The Israeli Defense Force. During the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Martin got together with numerous area restaurants to provide daily meals to the local hospitals, first responders and other essential workers who were forced to remain working through the lockdown.
For many years, Marty organized, coordinated and raised funds to hold a holiday party for the Foster and Adoptive Family Services of Monmouth County. This event allowed dozens of foster children to receive gifts during the holiday season, meet professional sports players, get new clothes & school supplies and bring joy to the kids who were struggling.
Marty had friends from all walks of life, religious beliefs, socioeconomic backgrounds and political affiliations and loved them all the exact same. He felt that the only way to get through life was with a smile, a laugh and enjoying the company of his family and friends. His heart was massive, filled with love & compassion, and always looking to help those less fortunate then him.
Martin is survived by his son and his wife, Alexander & Katharine Mabe; his son and his wife Jordan & Allison Mabe; his daughter and her husband Danielle Mabe & Miles Radziwanowski; The Love of his life and ‘Partner in Crime’, Dr. Lisa Stettner-Glennon & her children Kenny, Zachary, Jeremy & Samantha; his sisters Roberta Gerlach and Marion Patterson; and his beloved cuddly dog, Molly.
