Barbara was a devoted mother and lover of animals. She was also an avid reader and crocheter. She crotched numerous blankets for pets to donate to her local SPCA.
Barbara loved to bake and was particularly known for her cherry cheesecake and her mandel bread. She was involved in the 1701 Seniors group—planning birthday parties, holiday parties, and bake sales for the residents of Asbury Tower.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Simon and Anne Meltzer—as well as her brother, Alan Meltzer.
Barbara is survived by her son Erick Battaglia and his husband, Cristian Rojas; her daughter Jodie Battaglia and her partner, Alissa Ambacher; her son James Russell and his wife, Diana Russell; and her grandson Vonn Russell.
A graveside funeral will be held on Friday, December 22nd, at 12 noon at the Hebrew Congregation Cemetery of Mountaindale, NY, located on Marsh Road in Glen Wild, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to local SPCA’s in Barbara’s memory.
