Albert graduated from Commerce High School in New York and then began a military career towards the end of World War II, spanning 10 years, divided between the United States Maritime Service and the United States Army. After his return he received a degree from Cooper Union College in New York City and began a long career as an Electrical Engineer for AT&T, Bell Laboratories, and Lucent Technologies. In his early career Albert and his team invented what is commonly referred to as the “beeper” and he later designed testing equipment for the Trans-Atlantic Cable and was involved in various fiber optic technologies.
Albert will be remembered as a kind, subtle, and unfailingly polite gentleman who touched the hearts of all that met him with his easy-going nature, ready smile, and quiet charm. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Sylvia Rudoff, for 57 years, who preceded him in death in December 2011. He was a loving brother to Hyman, Harold, and Ida, all of whom also preceded him.
Albert is survived by his daughter Fran, his son Andy, daughter in law Linda, four grandchildren, Joseph Thomas and his wife Tracy, Richard, Hannah and her husband Noble, Zachary, and great grandchildren Margaret, Vincent, and Elizabeth.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, at 11:00 AM, at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, New Jersey, immediately followed by the burial.
Shiva will be observed at the home of Andy and Linda after the burial between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 PM.
