Verlene Paulk

Verlene Paulk, age 76, of Ocala, Florida passed away at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, August 20, 2023. She was born in Leesburg, Florida to the late Lawrence Elbon and Constance Derend (Tuten) Kilpatrick.

Verlene was a caring wife, mother, and Gramma who was best known for her generous heart and her dedication to others. She was always by her husband’s side as his counsel and advisor in raising their family and on scriptural matters as he led the Church. Verlene was proficient in biblical applications as she lovingly taught children’s Sunday school classes at Ocklawaha Church of Christ. She was known for her caregiving, sound advice, and for the beautiful way she comforted others. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing and was a meticulous seamstress. One of her favorite things to do was go out to eat in the joyful company of family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her infant son, Wayne Reid Paulk.

Verlene is survived by her beloved husband of almost 58 years, Wayne Paulk; children, Waylene Close, Derend Hamor, and Justin Paulk; brother, Marlin Kilpatrick; sister, Delphine Kilpatrick; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A visitation for Verlene will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5740 South Pine Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34480 with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 PM, 5740 South Pine Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34480. A committal service will occur Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 South Pine Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34480.
