Richard Halliburton passed away on September 10, 2017 in Ocala Florida. He was born on September 12, 1931 in Sebring, FL to Thelbert & Willie Mae Halliburton and grew up in the Miami area. He graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School in 1951, served in the US Army on active duty from 1952 - 1954 and then in the US Army Reserve until 1960 when he was given an honorable discharge. He worked for Southern Bell until he retired and served on the city council and zoning board in Davie, FL. He married Ory Botero in 1983 in Davie and moved to Morriston, FL in 1999 He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala and Holy Family Catholic Church in Williston. Richard loved to fish, scuba dive, golf, travel with his wife, and tinker in his garage.
He is survived by his wife Ory, of Ocala, FL; sister, Geraldine Tulfer of Durango, CO; nephews Ernest and Dwight both of Durango, CO; niece, Karen of Durango, CO and son Bruce – Virginia.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ocala, FL on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Queen of Peace Charities, 6455 SW Hwy. 200, Ocala 34476 in Richard’s memory would be appreciated.
