Omar Vargas

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Omar Vargas, of Ocala, FL on March 19, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in Manizales, Colombia on November 18, 1933, Omar was a devoted brother, son, and uncle. While living in NYC, Omar held positions at corporations like Volker and Bulova, and after moving to Ocala, Florida, Omar worked as a caregiver. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his big family, but one of Omar's most special gifts was the ability to help others, and so he would frequently be found in the local hospitals where he would bring comfort to those in need. Omar is preceded in death by his late parents, Samuel Vargas and Leticia Alvarez, and is survived by his siblings: Christina, Norma, and Enrique. Omar had countless nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in a family that spans over five generations. Omar's memorial service and mass will be held at Blessed Trinity Church in Ocala on March 29, 2025 at 10am. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Forest Lawn Funeral Home, located at 5740 South Pine Avenue in Ocala, FL.
