Mary was a devoted wife and dedicated mother to her four children. She was a LPN since 1945 and helped put her husband through the rest of college in the 50's working the night shift at a hospital in Auburn, Alabama and taking care of her oldest, Katrina (3 years old) during the day. Mary didn't work again until her youngest, David, was in school. She worked at Munroe Medical Center and then retired from Dr. Lilly's office in Ocala.
She spent countless hours canning all the vegetables in her husband's two huge gardens ... one in Florida and another in North Carolina since Mary and Chalmus were snowbirds.
Mary's real joy came from making baskets and was a talented seamstress and made all of her children’s clothing up into their teens along with doing ceramics and putting jigsaw puzzles together and then framing her accomplishments for all to admire.
She was a very faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church. Also, among the first 100 who began Highlands Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Chalmus H. Jones; sister, Dorothy Walrath and her son-in-law, Joerg Wartenberg.
Mary is survived by her four children, Katrina Wartenberg, Patricia (Steve) Johnson, Michael (Phyllis) Jones and David (Lori) Jones. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren along with one great granddaughter on the way!
She was loved by so many including nieces, nephews, and friends.
