

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Maria Angelidakis at the age of 65. Born in Rhodes, Greece and entered eternal rest in Ocala, FL on March 22, 2025, a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, aunt, cousin, friend and a pillar of her community, who left this world surrounded by the love she so generously gave.
Maria is predeceased by husband Balis "Laki" Angelidakis, mother Tsambika Kefalianos and is survived by her devoted children, Irene Angelidakis, son-in law Sean Nichols, Tsambika Angelidakis, Nickolas Angelidakis, daughter-in law Tammy Angelidakis, and Sisters, Katholiki Orsaris, brother-in law- Antonios Orsaris, Martha Stratigios, brother-in law-Nektarios Stratigios, her grandkids, Maria Perez, Avery Patterson, Summer Thompson, Jahiem Colon, Athena Nichols, Sean Nichols, great-granddaughter, Ariella Patterson, godson, Georgios Rosado, caregiver Otis Pigott, her two nieces, and five nephews who carry forward her remarkable legacy of kindness, strength, resilience, and devotion to family. Maria's life was a testament to the boundless love a mother holds, and her family was the light of her life.
A proud resident of Ocala, Florida, Maria transformed her passion for hospitality and Greek heritage into an enduring gift for her community through Lakis Restaurant. For nearly 40 years, she not only introduced her neighbors to the flavors of her homeland but created a space where laughter, stories, and friendships were shared over plates of heartwarming food. Her unwavering commitment to her craft and her community elevated Lakis Restaurant into a beloved cornerstone of Ocala, cherished by generations of patrons.
Maria's warmth, generosity, and resolute strength were as nourishing as the meals she lovingly prepared. Her spirit will live on in every smile, every shared meal, and every act of kindness inspired by her boundless compassion.
Maria Angelidakis, you touched countless lives—yours was a life lived with love, purpose, and profound grace, with class and unlimited altruism.
While the world has lost a remarkable soul, her legacy remains woven into the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, forever loved and always remembered.
The family invites the community to join in celebrating Maria’s incredible life and legacy at St.Marks Greek Orthodox Church, 9926 SE 36th Ave, Belleview, FL 34420 on, Wednesday, March 26th with viewing services starting at 9:30am, and a funeral service at 11am, followed by interment at Forest Lawn, 5740 S Pine Ave, Ocala, FL 34480. A traditional Greek, mercy meal, will be offered at St.Marks Church following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St.Marks church, in honor of Maria’s spirit of generosity.
