Joseph L. Cayea, Jr., 73 of Ocala, FL passed away October 27, 2015 surrounded by family. Joseph was born on August 30, 1942 in Jamaica, Queens, New York. He served in the United States Naval Reserve from 1959-1965. During active duty he was on the U.S.S. John W. Weeks DD-701. He then moved to Florida in 1970 to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. He joined the Ocala Police Department where he served for 15 years in various positions. He ended his career as a security officer at MRMC, Ocala, FL and retired from there in 2010.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Nicoletta Cayea (2010). Joseph is survived by his daughters Suzette Cayea Brower (Stephen) and Danielle C. Johnson (Ray), both of Ocala, FL. Surviving grandchildren include Meghyn Johnson, Ray Johnson III and Alayna Brower. He is also survived by his sister, Alice Lipira (Sal) of Ocala, brother, Ron Cayea (Inge) of Ocala, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Ocala, FL. A Memorial Dinner will be held at Living Waters Worship Center, 3801 N. US Highway 441, Ocala, FL at 5:00 p.m.
