James Darren Shumate, age 55, of Summerfield, Florida passed away on February 10, 2024 at his home. He was born on August 20, 1968 in Titusville, Florida to Mason Lee Shumate, Sr. and the late Dorothy (Haga) Shumate.
James moved to West Virginia for most of his life and then moved to Ocala, Florida in 2021. He was a general contractor. James enjoyed playing the guitar and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Shumate and brother, Mason L. Shumate, Jr.
James is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Matthew) Allison; father, Mason Lee Shumate, Sr.; brothers, Michael Lloyd Shumate, Gregory Allen Shumate; sister, Barbara Shumate-Young and his first grandchild on the way, Greylynn Kay Allison. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
