Frank Mistretta was truly one of a kind. In 1973, he found his calling of being a police officer. He was hired to join the ranks of the NYPD. His passion for law enforcement was second to none. Upon his retirement, he was one of the most highly decorated police officers with the NYPD and a hero to so many people throughout his career.
More importantly, he was a hero to his family and the one thing he loved more than law enforcement was his family. He was such a selfless husband, father, brother and grandfather. His spirit was that of a much younger man and his sense of humor was priceless. He always went above and beyond for his family and never put himself first. Frank was taken too soon from us but we are forever thankful and blessed to have had the memories, laughter, and wisdom that he bestowed upon each and every one of us.
Frank is survived by his wife, Brunilda Mistretta; daughters MargaretAnn Biegelman and Stephanie (fiancé Patrick Housden) Mistretta; sons Frank Mistretta and Salvatore Mistretta; grandchildren Steven, Nicole, Jessica, Sal, Lauren, Gina. He is further survived by his sisters Vera DeLeo and Sally Mistretta, and a brother, Salvatore (Karen) Mistretta; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
