Anna Pauline Katz of The Villages, Florida died Friday, November 6, 2020 at her home. She had battled numerous ailments in the months prior to her death and was a fighter to the last moment. She was born on November 28 1925 in Kansas City, Kansas as the fifth child of Seyforth and Helen Thomas.
Anna married Phillip Katz in 1948 and joined him in his travels as a U.S. Army officer. They enjoyed tours in Vienna, Austria; Fort Benning, Georgia; New Orleans, Louisiana (where Phillip got his Master’s Degree at Tulane); Fort Ord, California; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Fort Shafter, Hawaii; and Phillips last assignment, at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. During this time Anna was a devoted wife and homemaker. She was the mother of two children, Rodney born in 1950 and Phillip Jr. born in 1953.
After Phillips sudden death of a heart attack in 1986, Anna moved to Ocean City, Maryland where she designed and lived in a new house. Anna was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for twenty years and sponsored more than fifty members of the organization. She loved the boardwalk and the beach. In 2004 she moved to The Villages, Florida and became active in several of their activities.
Anna is survived by her two sons, Rodney and Phillip; six grandchildren, Angie, Benjamin, Mikaela, Nicholas, Christopher, and Steven. She had five great grandchildren; Easton, Hudson, Reese, Owen, and Jackson. She took great joy just before her death in the birth of Jackson on Halloween 2020.
Anna’s remains are at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Ocala, Florida. She is to be cremated. Her urn will be buried with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
