For everything there is a season and a time for every activity under the heaven. A time to be born and a time to die”- Ecclesiastes 3:1-2.
On Thursday June 13, 2024, God called William to his eternal home.
William was born on July 3, 1982, in Berkeley, CA to Deidra and William Smith Sr. He gave his life to Christ at an early age, attending Trinity Baptist Church under the Reverend Samuel L. Williams.
He attended Mount Diablo High School, and graduated from Ygnacio Valley High School in Concord, CA. Upon graduation in 2000, he attended Los Medanos College. Later, he attended World Vision Barber College and obtained his barber license. He became known as ‘Will the Barber.’
William loved life and was an avid Oakland Raiders fan. He enjoyed traveling and so many awesome adventures, but mostly loved spending time with family and friends (and was often the life of the party!). He always had something profound or kind to say.
William was a giver, never expecting anything in return. William’s sole joy in life was his love of family and the joy of being a father. He took his responsibilities as a father seriously. His priority and greatest passion was spending time with his children, and being a positive role model for all the kids in his life. He had the opportunity to coach his son’s flag football team, but prior to that was considered a sideline coach at every basketball game.
William had incredible athletic abilities and was able to coach his son and share his knowledge with others. He assisted with school and choir events, and was always the loudest and proudest at every choir performance his daughter had. He never missed a graduation or game for any of the many kids in his life.
William had a profound impact on everyone who loved him. He was truly one of a kind, and one of the kindest people this world will ever know.
William is preceded in death by his father, William Smith Sr.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his life partner, Aysha Lewis; daughter, Ziah R. Smith; son, William S.
